Brittany Siechen is going out a champion.
The East Syracuse-Minoa senior posted a 3-over par 74 at Rogues Roost West on Thursday to win her second straight Section III girls golf championship.
Siechen carded four birdies during her 18-hole round and finished in first place, two strokes ahead of Baldwinsville sophomore Lauren Petty and Fayetteville-Manlius sophomore Alex Seabury. The top nine place winners advanced to the State Intersectional tourney June 6-7 at the Foxfire Golf Club in Baldwinsville.
Siechen’s victory also earned a local amateur exemption from the Duramed Futures Tour which will allow her to compete in the 2009 Alliance Bank Golf Classic July 31-Aug. 2. This is the second consecutive year that Siechen will compete in the Alliance Bank Golf Classic, which will be on the East Course at Drumlins Country Club.
Repeating as sectional medalist is among Siechen’s many accomplishments this spring. Siechen also repeated as the Onondaga League individual champ and, during the regular season, she set a Woodcrest course record with a nine-hole round of 37.
Representing Section III at states will be Siechen, Petty, Seabury, Ariana Gaeta of Whitesboro, Megan Cahill of Auburn, Mary Fletcher of CBA, Larissa Carter of Auburn, MaryAnn Bulawa of Rome Free and Morgan McDermott of West Genesee.
Fletcher carded a team-best 77 to help the Brothers win their fourth straight sectional crown overall. The Brothers dethroned two-time Division I defending sectional champ F-M, 350-361. CBA, the reigning three-time Division II team champion, was moved up to Division I this spring.
Jamesville-DeWitt captured the Division II title over New Hartford 411-420. Senior Yvonna Jones was the top golfer for the Red Rams with a 89.
