Anne, Linda, I wanted to deliver the most exciting news of John Michael scoring his first eagle and hole in one on the same hole!!! The "when did it happen" makes it, to me, all the more amazing...YESTERDAY!!!
Yes, there we were at West Hill CC yesterday afternoon in mid/upper 30's weather...he golfing and I caddying. Surprise, surprise to find we were the only ones there. Hole # 7 which was playing about 149 yards is where the magic happened...
He used his Striker club, which is a 5 wood hybrid club. From the tee box the ball flight was awesome and when it stopped we could still see it so I figured it was a few inches away. He ran ahead and when he got right near the green (but not on the green) he started celebrating and yelling it was a hole in one. I started running toward the green, golf bag in hand. I got up to the green and John Michael then started walking towards the cup when the ball dropped in. It was in the cup from the beginning but was sitting on top of the cup wedged by the flag.
I can't tell you both what an unbelievable moment that was. He is so passionate about his golf and has such high standards and expectations for himself. I'm just so thankful his first hole in one was with me carrying the bag. It's a moment I will always remember and hold near.
